Where have we gone?

Hey everyone,

Apologies for the silence over the past few weeks, the team has been having a bit of a break before beginning our work on rebuilding the game from the ground up.

You might be wondering why we're going to do this and we have a pretty simple answer. To develop the game further, we're upgrading to a newer version of unity, which has better features, fewer bugs, and is LTS. So because we are rebuilding the game from scratch, it will allow us to add in some of the extra features that we didn't get in initially and begin paving the way for VR support in the not-so-distant future. On the other hand, it also means updates are probably little ways out. Overhauling a game and completely starting from scratch is no mean feat. We've got a whole array of scripts that need fine-tuning and rewriting to make sure the game runs as smoothly as possible, moving on...

What's currently being worked on?

As of right now, I'm currently working on the project solo so the other devs can have some R&R. However, it's taking a while to get things done as it's just myself working on it. As of 2 days ago, work has begun on a tutorial for the game. To show you all the features that we are having added and included within the game, I thought that having a tutorial would be a great way of helping new players learn how to play. As the game currently stands I understand it is really confusing for some parts and other parts are super janky. We're planning on ironing those out to make it a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

Notes from Joseph

I'm hugely thankful for everyone that has so far joined us on this journey, and to everyone who has tried and tested the game. I'm massively excited for the future of Buildscape and I look forward to continuing updates for the game as soon as we can. I'm kinda sad that the Military update didn't get pushed out before the overhaul, but we wanted to military update to be a part of a huge UI overhaul (which will be happening at the next game update). There's not much I can really say, timescale wise for the next update but I'm just hoping it's soon.
